PEOPLE
My interest in portraits began by attempting to capture the essence of a person revealed on the fly, without elaborate preparation or consideration for the studied pose, or even the subject's knowledge or participation. The point was to reveal an aspect of humanity through the way one of it's members presented him or herself to their chosen context – not mine. The clothes we wear, our hairstyles, how we hold our bodies, where in the world we choose to be -- these represent conscious decisions, and speak volumes about who we are and where we come from. This is still the underpinning of my present portraiture.
